From 1953's incredibly bizarre The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, written by Dr. Seuss himself, we have this musical number featuring the film's villain Dr. Terwilliger getting dressed to conduct his 500-boy piano symphony. Dr. T is played by Hans Conried, whom you may recognize as the voice of Captain Hook in the animated Peter Pan.

  • Why does he have to be gay just because he likes dressin' up? He's just plain stylish! And the lavender spats, amazing! I used to love singing along to this song, the lyrics are just so fun! This is one of my favorite old movies ^_^

  • Hans Conried is a true AMERICAN MASTER!

I hope PBS gets around to doing a bio on his life & career!!!

  • The guy reminds me of Newt Gingrich

...No, I take that back- Gingrich has a MUCH bigger ego then Dr. Terwilliger

  • "Is it...atomic?"

    "Very atomic!"

  • So far, I think this could work for Gaston from "Beauty & the Beast."

  • This is an amazing piece of film. The choreography in this scene alone is worth an Oscar for its intricacy. I would love to have been on set while it was being rehearsed. And as far as the song itself, how can you not love Dr. Suess? The lyrics are great!!

  • Gay or straight, it's a horrifying video. Aberrant and terrifying.

    And so wonderful.

  • @guruguruponchan27 Exactly! It seems for the last 50-60 years that if you're a guy and you don't look or act like Stanley Kowalski, you get pegged as gay. What a crock. What the hell does actually having class, style, and manners have to do with sexuality?

  • @ajt526 not to mention the always stylin' David Bowie

  • @victrolajake In historical times, gentlemen often wore socks with garters

  • @smichelle65 or where David Bowie gets his fashion sense

  • There's something about this song, it's so uplifting. Something in the melody, it's amazing! This song cures melancholy!
