On June 10 - 12, 2009, RezEd held it's first in-person conference in conjunction with the Games, Learning & Society Conference in Madison, WI.
Since the early alpha days of Second Life, innovative educators have been creating unique experiences for learning. From the first explorations by the University of Texas to the data visualization experiments of today, the ability to create contextual learning opportunities has attracted hundreds of universities and thousands of educators. In this discussion, Robin Harper, former VP of Linden Lab and consultant for Metaplace, looks at what makes virtual worlds, particularly those supporting user generated content, ideally suited for education. In particular, Robin looks at two recent examples from Second Life and Metaplace where teachers have designed enhanced learning environments for young teens.
