The fourth design challenge for the American regions is a pretty odd one--instead of a theme you have to work on, you need to let the game create a theme for you, and you go with that. When you begin a microgame, you see, you can name it whatever you please (up to 12 characters long, including spaces). Or you can tap the "Auto" button for the game to pick out a name. There's a rather long list of names, and the game randomly chooses one. You need to go with that name and submit the microgame.

I sent in a microgame, which the auto-titler called "Chomp Fest." You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ajEN00lKJg

It didn't make it in, but two other Chomp Fests did, one of which you'll be seeing in this video. The microgames in this set are:

1. "Jumbo Combo" from Leon: For some reaosn, I like the music here. However, the buttons to change the sundae could've been clearer. I wasn't sure what they were at first.

2. "Hedge Trim" from Carl: Pretty basic, but I can see why it made it onto here--it captured the WarioWare humor perfectly.

3. "Noodle War" from Aaron: This is probably perfectly doable on the DS, but on the Wii, the noodles are way too small to click on fast enough to beat your opponent. You are the one on the right, by the way.

4. "Make It Big" from Ridge: You have to drop the mutagen a bit ahead of time. I thought it was a laser at first.

5. "Monster Math" from Mike: A very creative concept, both artistically and functionally. However, there's something very weird about this microgame. Sometimes, the number that should belong in the middle is 11, making the game unwinnable under those conditions.

6. "Corn Smash" from Jester: This is a twitch game, of reaction time. Mine isn't good enough for this, even on the lowest speed.

7. "Marathon Day" from Matt: Looks like he took the Wii Balance Board from 9-Volt's microgame. It's pretty solid as a microgame, actually.

8. "Doodle Pad" from ZMann: That's a pretty accurate depiction of what actually goes into Pad Thai; I would bet that it was taken from a cookbook.

9. "Chomp Fest" from Georb: Here's a different interpretation from what I had in mind--it involves a Chain Chomp...chomping the Mario Bros. So much for those two.

10. "Teh Internet" from Lazor'd: Very simple design, but it works just fine. You need to connect the pipe parts to get the ball to the upper-right.

11. "Ghost Hunter" from Leiden: I'm pretty impressed by the guy's walk cycle. That and how he reminds me of Charlie Brown.

12. "Wake-n-Quake" from Matei: Pretty basic, but it works out in its weirdness and how everything bounces after the tyrannosaurus wakes up.

13. "Pancake Lake" from Square: This is a heavily flawed microgame. The artwork in impeccable, but what you can't necessarily see from my playing this is that the frog's tongue has a pretty short range. Much of the time, the fly is too far out in front of a lily pad to reach, and the game only gives you time to encounter the two flies you're required to get.

14. "Fruit King" from Jackson: This is just like the original "press A with good timing" microgames from the original WarioWare. Their concepts were what made much of them different. I'll bet this concept is too random even for the original WarioWare game.

15. "Best RPG" from WebbX: Just remember that the swords and shields you have to equip will horizontally coincide with each other.

16. Glasses Guy" from Justin: This is an interesting inversion of the superhero change. He puts on glasses as part of his superhero getup. The artwork of the guy is nice, but the background needs work.

Is that mini-game's design come from an old game called "Rugrats - Search For Reptar"?

  • @NicoWilliams09 I wouldn't know; I haven't played it.

  • Hi, I'm the guy who made Teh Internet (I'm known as Lazor'd, Lazord, or Lazor-d in a lot of other places). I'm kind of flattered to see my winning microgame on YouTube.

  • @Plastiware Congratulations on it showing up then.

  • Monster Math isn't unwinnable when you need 11; you have to click on 9, making it incorrect.

  • @tkwtube01 Are you serious? That's what you have to do?

  • Yeah, dead serious. It was probably supposed to be 36 + () = 45 instead of 35 + () = 46.
