Walker Brothers - Love minus Zero 1966

This beautiful Rumba was written by Bob Dylan and performed by The Walker Brothers in 1966
(recorded from Japan TV)

Lyrics:
My love she speaks like silence,
With no ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her.

In the dime stores and bus stations,
People talk of situations,
Read books, repeat quotations,
Draw conclusions on the wall.
Some speak of the future,
My love she speaks softly,
She knows there's no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all.

My love she speaks like silence,
With no ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her.

Valentines can't buy her.

Valentines can't buy her.

Valentines can't buy her.

  • @1Phoebus We would have.....but when Sun....hit our top 20....Scott refused to come back and tour. If they had come back....history could have played out much differently.

  • @sophie1065 the guy in the background was their security guy. John and Scott were anxiety ridden about anyone being behind them while they were on stage. Both guys had been physically injured multiple times by the time they went to Germany by rabid fans jumping them while they were trying to perform.

Notice John staring down the girl at the beginning of this song....trying to decide if she is going to jump. Then Scott also glances over his shoulder as well.

  • to bad the idiot in thhe background could,t hae been thrown out on his ear.s ing up. a wonderful time the yong people were trying to have dancing to beautiful music. Again such wonderful music what happendd to it from then to now

  • I have found such a love and am about to marry her

  • ONe of the best groups "out of England"...since thier own country didn't give them a break...great cover of a dylan classic ^/^

  • They don't even bother to disguise the lip-syncing on this one, do they? I like the focus on the drummer during the guitar solo -- it makes perfect sense since there doesn't seem to be a guitarist on stage.

  • @dukmysik Lacks balls? Ha ha, very funny!

  • After careful scrutiny I've decided that this version lacks balls

  • I'm sorry to hear about John but I wish I could have harmonised with you Scott. I felt & still feel you were & are a gentleman of music, Love you. x
