I am very happy to hear that 98% of Christians do not share their futile and ridiculous belief in God. But it is much better that the same confused buggers do not spread unfounded and malicious propaganda about the other God that they depend on, Satan.

The reason why people put their belief in a 'shoebox' as you call it, is because some people realize how utterly rediculous and disgusting the bible is. Only when they come into contact with religious nutcases like you in public will they say that they are christian because they KNOW that you are the type of person who will bash them for being atheist or agnostic, or look down on them because you think you are so much inferior to them.

@Jurassicprince: im sure you've heard this before... but doesn't the fact that God needed to sacrifice himself to himself make him kind of a dolt? Sheit... I'm smarter than that and all I have a is a bachelor's degree. And based on this sacrifice because of sins I hadn't even committed yet, I'm supposed to be ever thankful. The amount of logic I have to suspend to make this seem correct is off the charts.

You're making quite a good point here. Christians today have forgotten about the very important doctrine of regeneration. This is what Scripture says: that is a man is a child of GOD, then he is regenerated and won't go on sinning with pleasure, but will detest sin.
So those who claim to be Christians and don't live accordingly are not truly Christians.
