  • and do you have anything other than "not my boat" to say? you are pathetic. even if it's not your own boat you could still do something about it! you just didn't care! it's simple.

  • Do something about it? Like what, for instance?

  • what on earth , the next time you land a ship on "sand" write me , i will fly from Australia and pick her up . too much money , no sailing sense , have you not heard of salvage anchor winching,???,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that boat was NOT stuck fast

  • um, not my boat . . . sorry

  • How could you let that happen i would have dug it out with a shovel or had it towed out right away i knew in the first clip it was gonna get deeper, that is so horrible at least i know never to let my sailboat go ashore!!! have you ever heard of an anchor!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • um, not my boat . . . sorry

  • so your telling me a backhoe couldnt have gotten the sand out of the way which would then put the ship in water.

  • So sad to see a ship like her gone.

  • @Doccarey

Really anyone who owns a Hunter might not want to go spouting off about other boasts being pigs, I mean really that is a classic glass house, pot/kettle thing. Even compared to other cruisers Hunters are pigs. cstall3 let me know if you need crew for the "old sailing pig" vs. hunter race I only ask that I get to crew on the pig. Let's make it an offshore race, something short maybe a few hundred miles and schedule for a little bit of weather just a bit wet and wild. Hunter, *facepalm*

  • I see alot of comments about salvage costs, and am quite shocked, I'm a commercial diver in Cornwall UK and we get called out about 3 times a year to recover all kinds of boats. we would have got this back afloat within 6hrs with air bags and winching using an anchored vessel, my boss would have charged about £1,200 which I guess is less than $3,000, Some people prefer to let it wreck for the insurance. They get more than they would selling it....sad but true.

  • There are a lot of comments that could be made about something like this, but being the owner of my own sailboat I am far to sensitive to say them. I'm sure that the owners suffered enough watching their pride and joy slowly go down and have punished themselves enough with all the "woulda, coulda, shouldas" that there is nothing that anyone could add.

  • all the kings horsepower and all the kings men! all my bass boat buddy and my 350omc would have draged her out to sea again!!! so SAD

  • @bigmuso123 I agree! I would even pay the $20,000 to get it freed, maybe another 20k for a new mast and refitting/repairs, then sail off into the sunset on my awesome 40k boat.

  • that was the saddest thing i ever saw

  • yeah that was a quality boat...

  • It is so sad to see that and it is now happening all over Florida due to the collapse of the economy. People are just cutting them loose and letting the sea take them. A shame.
