Make this Bird Feeder in 5 minutes. At the end I show you how I make a little play gym that you can hang near a perch outside the cage for additional play space.

This is environmentally friendly way to use those plastic bottles so that we can extend their use, and recycle old toy parts.

I think all birds need as much room as you can afford to share with them.

Good luck and have fun with it.

  • WOW!!!!! Those were some GREAT ideas....thank you! This is definitely one for the *favorites* bin ;-)

  • Thank you very much 1boidae.

I forgot to mention that when I make the play gym I cut out on all four sides so the toys can swing freely. I make sure the bird has plenty of room to get in any out of the playpen.they even make a plastic trim if you really wanted to go all out and put it on the cut edge for comfort to their toes.

  • I feel like I need to make a note here Catherine (sorry).

Folks, make sure you use stainless steel for two reasons. 1.) It won't rust, and 2.) the other metal that won't rust, galvanized steel, can/ will be toxic to whatever flora/fauna are in the area. As well, make sure the bottle is well washed before use.

But that's a great idea Catherine! I think I'll make one for my budgie! :D

  • Thanks Kirkygirl

I did make sure I made two references to useing stainless steal and also I like that paticular bottle because when its new I can put it in the dish washer.

Nice to see your still out there.

  • Please NEVER use a key ring for any bird toy! As we pry it open with our fingers, a bird will pry it open with their beak. That can cause many complications for the bird! Otherwise, it seems like the bird loves it!

  • wat is that mom

  • great! Thanks alot. We pay up to $30. for some of our toys, you have saved us!!!

  • I can't even begin to thank you. You have the greatest idea's. The stores want $350 for what you make. I am going to get busy and make some.
