When Katrina took aim at New Orleans, my wife and I new that our POS gas guzzler would strand us and our 2 kids on the hiway to Baton Rouge - traffic was backed up all the way into the downtown area, so that was no option. We were invited to a hurricane proof hotel - The Parc St. Charles by my friends Gabriel and Melissa, so that's where we rode out the storm - in safety.

We survived the storm and even had a couple of days worth of food and water left over. Then the s*** hit the fan.

  • It was God's fault for directing the Hurricane into New Orleans. The people that were responsible for themselves heeded the warnings from Ray Nagin..telling them to GET THE FUCK OUT OR YOU WILL DIE (Is that so hard to understand?) made their way out of the City..any way that they could..I mean Jesus Christ people..how much is bus fare to Baton Rouge..Like $10.00? But the Niggers sat around (like they always do) and just figured that the "Gubment" would take care of things...and this is the resul

  • where are the people that were shipped to TEXAS. They never reached their destination...

  • I agree that it was a horrible situation. I was there two days after the storm. I live in south Louisiana and know to keep water on hand during Hurricane season. Something should have been done sooner about the water situation but people should also learn to live without government supply. We need to be self sustaining because that faucet and electricity may not work one day. Thats why I live in the country. I can live off the land, water, and my resources. Let this be a lesson to us all.

  • Why didn't Ray Nagin or the dumb as* Governor of LA. put those people on the hundreds of buses in the parking lots and bus them out of there??? They had to see the giant Hurricane on the Weather Channel and all the News channels coming their way.....they knew the levees weren't strong enough to withstand a hurricane of that size.

  • INSENSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!Disasters like this is the main reason that my hubby joined the military. He wanted to be able to help out and for you to say that i am insensitive that is outrageuos...I wasnt saying things werent awful i know they were and i feel for every last person that had to go through that hell...I just get sick and tired of hearing how our military didnt do anything whenever i know how much of an outstanding person my husband and his fellow soldiers are.

  • They put there heart and soul into that place. My husband almost lost his leg in Iraq and what did he say as soon as they finished with the surgery to save it? "When can i get back to my men?" But yet i guess according to you i dont care anything about him or his battle buddies because im insensitive...

  • I do agree with you that 1 life no matter how it was lost was 1 to many...I do appreciate your hugs for the soldiers but i was stating my opinion and there is no reason for you to go saying things that you dont know anything about.

  • One human life lost due to inaction is not tolerable by me. If you can live with the loss of life, well then I am sorry you are so insensitive.

It's funny that American water was on the ground in Peru so quickly after the earthquake, when in America it takes a minimum of four days to accomplish the same.

Basically what I'm trying to say is; I blame the decision makers, the troops can only follow the orders they are given.

  • The Air Force N.G. troops inside the dome were heartbroken by this experience. This does not change their orders (or the fact that they came to New Orleans empty handed) in any way. I have publicly Thanked the troops who assisted us, I actually hugged the troops who brought in the water. Reminder - I hugged them for their efforts on Thursday, after people had already died from lack of water.

  • Remember also, the troops there were under orders - no active duty soldier or volunteer reserve soldier can just grab a gun and show up somewhere. I am a former Navy Petty Officer, and I can assure you most troops I talked to (yes on camera) did not like the situation or their orders. For the record, the Air Force reserve Colonel in charge was amazing, he saved many situations from turning bad.
