I've seen some of the videos of the SSD and it looks extremely fast when you open up files and applications. As far as boot up time and shutting down, the boot up time is indeed way faster, but the shutting down is almost the same. SSD is way too expensive now so it's better to wait until they decrease the prices.

Right off the bat, the test has a flaw, there are more programs on the right mac than on the left one. Why is it so hard for to do an actual fare test...not saying that the ssd is slow or anything

I really doubt it makes a difference. As long as those programs aren't loading during startup, which they aren't, the boot time increase is miniscule at best. My Macbook starts up just as fast as the day I got it.

It absolutely does make a difference. It should have had the same exact things boot up on both computers, otherwise, someone can just put more programs on startup to make the other computer seem much faster. From the looks of it, it appears that the computer on the right has to load iphoto, garageband(which seems to be lit from the white icon on the bottom(unless it's the wallpaper)), along with imovie. The less dock apps on startup, the faster your mac will boot up. That's from experience.

Alright. From my experience, adding two programs to my dock (which really just adds two shortcuts - which means all it has to load is the shortcut itself and the thumbnail) made no noticeable change in my startup speed. The big difference would come from the program actually running at startup, which these aren't.

All I'm really saying is: If this guy wanted to sabotage the HDD Macbook's startup speed, there are much better ways to do so.

I was thinking that the programs weren't even installed onto it...but I'm not sure. It would have been much better if there was no doubt...but there is

@idrinorbarsaku the best way to have a fair test is to have a fresh install of the same OS

I know, but it seems that neither one of these are fresh installs.

Sounds like you have some serious issues with your current installation of Safari..
