I do not know why, but the people at the shelter said that Yoda is a Cairn/westie mix. There is not a single trait of a westie in him whatsoever. Don't know why they said that

@AlchemicalDavid Yeah, I've got to agree with you about irresponsible show breeding. I stand for dogs as healthy working dogs with the best working temperaments.

I don't know enough about Dobermans to make a sensible comment...not that that's ever stopped me :)
You make a good point. To be honest I can't stand KC stuff. They've managed to make some wonderful dogs into in-bred genetic monsters :( When I was a kid we had Westies...the skin problems were awful. That's why I went for this little monster (the little guy I use as an avatar on here) he's got a pedigree as long as my arm but he's still as natural as you can get :)

@AlchemicalDavid Yeah, I'd also say that if Cairn Terriers and West Highland White Terriers are considered as two different breeds, than the many bloodlines of Dobermanns should also be split.

I adopted my cairn from a pound and they said she was spayed but 9 weeks later 6 puppies !!! (true story)

My cairn terrier has jumped out of a moving vehicle 3 times, once at 70 mph. He attacked a pack of wild dogs (husky size) once and of course ended up in the hospital. He jumped out of a fishing boat once and almost drowned under the boat. He tries to bully dogs that pee in his territory, even if they are 10 times his size. I've never had a dog like him. He's fallen down the stairs a few times because he has arthritis now. Doesn't yelp, just gets up and keeps going. You can't stop a cairn.
