John Lee Hooker is the grandfather of this form.
Canned Heat took this music to the public.

No, the first notes are "thumpa thumpa thumpa" on the guitar. Then the boogie eiff, 2d 3d 4b 2d (or 2d 3d* 4b 2d.)
