David Bazan and Alex Westcoat of Bazan + Band

As I interviewed David Bazan and Alex Westcoat about the qualities they appreciate in great musicians, the word "spirituality" came up a couple times. While Bazan may have caught a lot of people's attention by leaving behind tidy religious doctrines, it's still hard to avoid some numinous terms when talking about creative expression.

Settling into a steady touring cast, Bazan + Band are injecting fresh life into the Pedro the Lion back catalog. Particularly, Alex Westcoat's energetic time-keeping completes Bazan's transition from shoegaze poster-boy to power pop veteran.
