Because WoW spell graphics are bland. Level 1 fireball looks like a lvl 80 fireball.

The EQ1 spell graphics were crazzzzzyyyyy especially for the times.

Becouse WoW is copied from this game, and copied badly, WoW doesn't have the atmosphere this game had.
