I feel sorry Toby a bit in this scene. There he is pouring his heart out to Mrs. Lovett and she doesn't care. Instead she is thinking of how they can get rid of him beacause of his suspicions about Mr.Todd. You know this kind of reminds of the realshionship of Mr.Todd and Mrs.Lovett. Mrs.Lovett loves Mr.Todd but he doesn't give a shit about her. Toby loves Mrs.Lovett (like a mother) and she doesn't care about him. Very sad :(

The orchestra is just beautifly done in this scene, distorted violin while lovette sings just emphasizes how hollow her words really are in meaning and Toby's induction to a wave of golden notes almost as though their ringing from the truest depths of a beautiful soul.

Woah what was all that about just now.. Who was I there.. Oh well back to looking up videos of funny cats..

i think she does care for him just not as deeply as he does for her.

@kourage215 I don't think he failed.. he had to stay out of the way because they were going to kill him. He did end up killing Todd because of it, though.

@xXEmmaTheNinjaXx i think she does care about him. she even cries when toby climbs onto her and cuddles on her lap. she realized she has to kill him. she was sad. she did care.

@xXEmmaTheNinjaXx I think she cared about him too but was not sure how to handle these emotions. It seems that she's been alone in the world for a long time so now she has two people to love- Mr. Todd and Toby. But she feels more hopeful towards Mr.Todd and is rather delusional towards a future with him, Toby can see through Mr.Todd and I suppose she can too but doesn't want to admit it. :) This scene made me quite sad.
