This just uses evaporation to cool the air. It will be more or less effective depending on humidity. Not bad if you live in a dry place.

So, where do you get the ice from? The freezer? Freezing water in a freezer produces heat. In fact, you will always be producing more heat than you can cool using this method. Not only will this not work, but unless your freezer is outside, you are heating your home!
