Got together with some tone hounds on 2/6/10 and shot some video. In my opinion, the Suhr Riot distortion pedal worked very well in the clean channel of the OD100 SE+. It doesn't sound exactly like the distortion channel, but it's still a really cool pedal that doesn't have that typical pedal sound.

We tried it in the clean channel of the Egnater Renegade too and it sounded great. Unfortunately,0 I didn't get any video of that.

Dave is playing his Melancon guitar with Duncans (not sure what models). The Bogner cab is mine and it's loaded with WGS ET65 speakers.

  • suhr riot vs purple plexi lovepedal ??? I love both...........any opinions on which is better ???

  • @jem7772 I've never compared them side-by-side or even through the same amp, so I don't really have an opinion. I'd love to have them side-by-side through the clean channel of my CAA OD100, though! That should be really interesting!

Do you have an opinion on the differences between them?

  • I own a Riot pedal and have tried it through 2 different Mesa amps, with very different results. I bought the pedal because I was not happy with my F-30's tone...TOO flubby and mid-rangy. The Riot did not help. I then tried it through a Dual Rec with a Genz-Benz 2X12 cab...ahhh! There we go-fabulous tone. It seems this pedali s really reactive to everything in the tone equation, i.e. pickups, amp, cab, wood, etc..

  • @mcmgtr Ya know, I find all OD and distortion pedals work that way. It's quite aggravating too. I've had my favorite OD or distortion pedals, then changed amps and they sounded like crap. Pedals really need to be matched up to the rest of the gear (as you said!)

  • What about the feel on the lead tone?

  • They feel different. The pedal feels more like... well... a pedal.

  • Lovepedal's are great, but I think you need to check out the Wampler's too. I'm sure you'll like them as well.

  • @jem7772 The Riot without a doubt .

  • I like this pedal and the shiba pedal... I gotta have them...lol.

  • @lpdelux1 I did the same thing with an old Peavey VTM tube head. One channel, decent gain, or clean but not both. Similar to a JCM 800. So, I ran it for a nice loud, full clean tone, and ran an MI Audio Crunch Box as my dirt. Works great, and is more flexible. By all accounts, the Suhr Riot is awesome, I think that combo would work very well with your VHT.

  • pedal has nice bite but not the same overtones or harmonics as the amp......and it is being played through a top shelf suhr amp dont forget !!! The tranny and components help to kick the tone
