This is wonderful, but no reason I can't like Hampson too. Performers can sound totally dissimilar in the same role, and still be wonderful.

The best Don Giovanni, indeed. The voice had the very best basso cantante timbre, both very manly and seductive but sounding youthful and smooth. The legato and the good taste in Mozartean singing are unsurpassable, and his acting is just the right measure for the role. His Giovanni is neither a complete gentleman nor a vulgar seducer. It's amazing the same singer who could be so convincing in this role and Méphistopheles also sang the most generous and captivating Padre Guardiano ever.

A person who could prefer the lyric baritone sound of Thomas Hampson to the absolutely gorgeous singing of Siepi has probably not spent enough time listening to truly great singers.

What a voice, it´s Don Giovanni, Mozart wrote Don Giovanni for a voice like his, the thing is that his voice is HUGE but SOOO BEAUTIFUL.!!!!
