The Designline Eco-Saver IV Hybrids will be going to Michael J Quill Depot. 5 will be running on the M42 along with some other routes.

A 35ft version of this bus was tested and it was successful, hence allowing the order of the new Designline buses.

About 30 or so buses will be at MJQ with the possibility of knocking off some of the TMCs that they have. Only up to 8 buses will be here by this year and running in service.

Engine and Transmission specifications are as follows

Capstone C30 MicroTurbine
Bosch Rexroth 120kW Traction Motors

This is by far the most quiet hybrid out in service today. The Orion VII OGs & NGs are noisemakers compared to these buses.

More videos will come as soon as I find out where else it runs! Stay Tuned!

  • yes sir it is :)

  • That guy in the yellow shirt, was he an employee of the company that built the bus to see if it was running well?

  • The dude in the yellow shirt was a representative from Designline, I guess he'll be here during the Pilot Program.

  • Dude who are the other busfans in this video? Man that bus sounds sweet!

  • they retired because mta found out that they had a broken microtube and they are no longer in service R.I.P designline :(

  • this bus would of been a prefect replacement of the RTS's. A Damn shame in deed. ]:

  • @Bus7777 lol need for speed bus pursuit

  • @Arnoldnyc And I hope that L.A. MTA, Chicago CTA, Detroit, Boston are ordering these buses soon, since they got rid of their RTSes (except Detroit DDOT) because this one looks exactly like em!

  • Please trace and make a Paperbus of this particular bus. I love this thing because it looks like an RTS.

  • @youngyasha I agree 100%, It sure does look like an RTS which I like MOSTLY about this bus and I hope NYCT are going to keep ordering these just like they did for RTS between 1981-1999 (GMC-TMC-Nova) since they're slowly and sadly retiring the RTS buses.

R.I.P GMC-TMC, some Nova RTSes of NYCT.

  • Cool looking bus!

  • sadly there's only 1 in production

  • wow Cool Bus! I hope the MTA put these buses on the streets
