Absolutely the best fingerstyle guitar in the world.

He's still the most pleasantly delightful musician I've ever heard..loved every rendition of current pop tunes.. he made them ALL better.. in my book

Chet brought out the best in everyone he played with . From Hank Snow and Lenny Breau to Jerry Reed and Mark Knofler and Tommy Emmanuel . Everybody did their best 'cause Chet was the best . Plus I think he was a better speller than Vinnie .
-
Better ask Tommy what he thinks of that .

I'm shocked at all the comments on how his guitar was strung on this song! he was using normal med, gauge strings... the bass comes from knowing how to use your thumb and palm of your right hand...
-
@vinnothelizard I assume you're being facetious. If not, Tommy would be the 1st person to tell you that Tommy Emmanuel wouldn't be Tommy Emmanuel had it NOT been for Chet Atkins -- his life's soul mate and hero.

That was Chet, I believe he hooked up bass strings to his guitar, somehow.

I love this album, Three Little Words is off Solo flights.Chets playing the bass and melody at the sametime on a custom guitar sturng with 2 bass strings. Everything was live till the guitar solo and the haromny part at the end.

I never listened that close before, but perhaps there was a bit of an overdub at the end.
