America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments ~ Documentary Trailer
Is weight gain the biggest health crisis in America or is it weight loss? With our collective waistline expanding faster than ever, dieting has now become a national obsession. But is our fixation on diet and exercise the result of a look in the mirror, or are there more insidious forces at work? Which one of these people is overweight? Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Hugh Jackman, Jessica Simpson, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, LeBron James, Matt Damon, or Christian Bale? Unless you guessed all of them, you're wrong. According to the current BMI scale all of these people are overweight. . .and Dwayne Johnson is OBESE! In what once was a woman's issue, more men are being targeted by advertisers to diet or bulk up to resemble the Adonis images on the cover of men's magazines. This documentary covers issues such as America's unhealthy dieting craze, the use of the outdated and misleading BMI scale, the currently touted "obesity epidemic," and the widely believed concepts that you have to be thin to be healthy. With one of the the most advanced medical systems in the world and alternative health modalities at our disposal, is it possible to be healthy at a variety of sizes and weights?

@CartoonCookie1 I still have yet to watch the first 2 documentaries. But, I plan to. They look interesting. I don't think spray tanning could fill up a long documentary, but sun tanning might, since it is dangerous over time. Have a wonderful and healthy 2012!

@cavejourney I am surprised, in all the world, that a McDonald's would close down. Sounds like you had an interesting three weeks. I plan to visit the Netherlands for 2 weeks soon. They don't seem to share the same focus on healthier eating as Iceland does. But, the Dutch are generally healthier and more active than Americans.

I just got back from visiting Iceland. They once had a McDonalds but it closed down because nobody went to it. I saw only one fat Icelandic person in the 3 weeks I was there. Culture and community values is a big factor.
