@battlestarone Go check out the Gain Master web page by Sirio, it explains the design and why adding radials would both raise it's angle and destroy it's balanced pattern
It is truly new technology, not that the theory is new, but the execution IS
Don't even bother with one if you don't have a clear location for it. It needs to be 'alone in the sky' to perform it's best. Stay with an IMAX if you need a no-radials antenna, can stand the higher noise floor and don't have 80+mph / 130+kph winds

@0ndrous Lets hope they soon land..........saying that it makes a change for the UK to get a product before you lads.......LOL. Hello George also if your checking this out my Old Mate.

@m0ogy None I know of, other than Shock's, but mine is ordered & hopefully already shipped & on it's way here!
B4 it gets the pine I'll be placing it where the IMAX was; same height & coax. I took readings before I removed it & in comparison the my Penetrator500 which is still up, so I do have a reference standard against which to compare it.
Like you mentioned, I'm quite 'Jazzed' (Hi George!) about finally seeing something new, though supposedly the ABS-1600 boasted a somewhat similar design.

@0ndrous I'll see what I can do,but I think his GM is now up anyway. I do think your comments about loads of A99s for sale on Ebay could be right. I realy do now think it's up to guys like you to see how you get on with them......I know it works like no other for me and a few other Europeans who have bit the bullet. It could be worse you could live here and have to pay £139 instead of your bargain price of $129. Have any of the Americans got the GM yet??

Hey Dave, Is there any way you could borrow & test an A99 with Carl before he changes his out to an SGM, for a World-Wide revelation of just how far down is the performance of a pair of A99s, especially in comparison to a pair of Sirio Gain Masters?
What an amazing difference it would be, especially if you cold hold the first half of the video until you both have an SGM back up, then do an instant video A-B comparison.
I'd PAY to see that!
- After which I see the market flooded with $15 A99s!

@0ndrous I'm sure your right. Carl the guy on the CB and this video (M3 CVD) is using an Antron 99 on these videos. Now he in the process of putting up a GainMaster on the same pole. So we will see how bigger his signal is on our next QSO. We are in the middle of very bad snow and ice at the moment Scott.So I'm not sure when he will have it installed.I will do a same pole test in the spring, when I swop the Shaky with the GM ,but i've found it handy RXing on the Magnum and using the GM on the CB
but what the dx like with this antenna,no ground plane to give lower angle on the horizon,ground wave and gain may be increased but if you dont have low angle on the horizon it no use just a marketing ploy...like the claims about the A99,s db gain that are false,,,but i do know one chap that has one and he is impressed but still no great dx results with it,,though conditions have been poor.

@battlestarone I've had some superb DX results with it, even on UKFM CB Radio, Sweden been one.

your going to see a better signal as the gainmaster is a 5/8 wave or more,its got gain over the half wave,the shakespear is only a halfwave if i remember right,if i was paying that kinf of money i would be looking for a better signal or my money back,but a 5/8 wave is a 5/8 wave,a sirio tornado i reckon would give the same result for half the price...check the field strength of the antenna compaired with another 5/8 wave.....would be intresting.

@battlestarone Half Wave, not the Shakesphere ABS1600 that I own..........it IS a 5/8 Wave.
No 5/8 Wave on the market comes close to the SGM and i'm not the only one to find this.
