Swarm, swarm, swarm

the hive named Connie swarmed this morning. I had been intending to put a second deep on her, but she is so bitchy that I put it off. Well, I put it off too long and she swarmed this morning.

It actually is good for me, because it means that I get a nice new queen and when she calmed down, it was very simple to take the old medium super off and put on an empty deep instead. I'll feed her a few gallons of syrup and hopefully she'll fill up the deep with honey for the winter.

Connie was the only hive to make it through the winter, She was half italian, half russian. I wonder who the new queen mated with?
