Workplace Bullying Press Conference April 30, 2012 ( Albany , New York)

Press conference held April 30, 2012 in Albany, New York , in support of the Healthy Workplace Bill S4289 / A4258. The bill was originally drafted by David Yamada and promoted by Dr. Gary Namie and Dr. Ruth Namie. The New York Bill has been lobbied by Mike Schlicht and Tom Witt from the New York Healthy Workplace Advocates (NYWA) www.NYHWA.org .

The bill addresses the abusive work environment, status blind workplace harassment, and workplace bullying. Elected officials, representatives from unions and professional organizations, and individuals who have been bullied in the workplace, speak at the press conference.

Well, any follow up video to this? My biggest fear as a target is the bullies are clever enough to fake being victims themselves. This I believe may be the biggest obstacle to this getting passed. We already live in a entitlement society with hoards of people claiming disability that shouldnt be. I want this to pass in the worst way but how are we all going to prove our case??

OMG - job killer what a nonsense...it is statement promoted probably by the bullies who are worried they will have to change! Also bullies no one is taking away from you your aggression you can still utilize it at the football pitch!

and with regards to Leyman Swedish/german scientist/researcher/psychiatr­ist...-he found enough evidence that bullying = suicidal thoughts ...found this many many years ago!!!

Excellent the group is getting bigger and bigger! and more professionals involved, it is good that you got health professionals involved from talking therapies, such as psychologists, because the reality is that there are many studies done by Leyman for instance

Hi Dom Dom, you need to go through psychotherapy and get as much support as possible. Victims of bullying experience have symptoms of PTSD, which is a specialist area in psychotherapy, involves working through trauma and you need someone who has experience in this, to make sure that you are not re-traumatised...Also, get your trade union representative involved, they have normally a lot of power and are very knowledgeable. Our families can be good support but as i said you need professionals
