Pet Food Myths, Part 2: Grocery Store and Veterinarian Pet Food is an episode of Yvonne DiVita's "Out Loud" podcast series, on the ScratchingsandSniffings.com blog, sponsored by Purina. In this episode, Yvonne and veterinarian Dr. Larry McDaniel talk with Dr. Grace Long from Purina's Veterinary Diets.
Dr. Larry said , "Cats need taurine. I think you get that from animal tissue, right?" He's not sure? Why not mention hearts where taurine is concentrated. In video 1 the spin is to focus on human nutritional needs in the hopes that the audience will take away the sub-conscious thought that if it's good for us, it's good for our pets.

I wouldnt go to a doctor that pushed precription medication on me either when I didnt need it. Ask your vet if they specialize in nutrition? vets are not required to take nutrition courses and the one short class is offered is sponsored by Hills and Purina. There no emphasis on preventative health through nutrition, its about masking the problem with meds or overpriced garbage called prescription diet.
