@thefavs You leave the flange bolted to the turbo till the material has cooled down. This prevents the flange from warping. You won't damage the turbo.

bolted on or not, the flange will still warp if you weld continuously. Weld little sections at a time and let it cool is what i've learned. Sucks because it takes so long but it prevents warping.

Nice job, I learning about TIG welding and I m also doing a down pipe, and i was wondering if i should tag weld first then take the turbo off and then finish welding or should I just leave it on like you have, I m just worrying about damaging the turbo.

@thefavs the turbo sees more heat while in use than it does while welding on it. leave it bolted to prevent warping.
