Shot on a rainy October 24, 2009 in Garrison, NY on Metro-North's Hudson Line. Here we have an Amtrak Empire Service train headed South towards Penn Station in New York City. The lead engine appears to be #707 - a GE P32AC-Dual Mode "Genesis" with 5 Amfleet cars.

  • What is the weird noise that the engine starts making at 0:17?

  • That probably had to do with the rain - every train I got that day was doing that going through wet rails - I guess when you combine CWR and moisture, you get that sound.

  • Nice video. That engine needs a good washing.

  • So did my camera lens :)

  • That's the AC traction motors on the loco. In the beginning of the video you can hear the engine revving up.
