Sure there is an alcohol gene! People have lots of genes for things not yet invented. I have a gene that has me hooked on the internet! Do you think, I would stop, if I could! Maybe it is just a YouTube gene. Do not take responsibility for your actions. AA says it, you are powerless. God has a plan and it is for you be an alcoholic. Let go, and let God. Bottoms up.

Yup people in my family drink, and use computers. I do not drink anymore. I lost the gene. Now to change my eye color.

Concerning my below comments: I know that you had a purpose for your comments section and I may have interferred with that purpose. After two years I expect that it probably would be alright to put my own bit on here, but if you decide to remove my comments I understand. It's your right, and your 'study' could serve as perfect justification (though you don't need to justify it if you don't want to). Hi, In the late 70's my parents owned and operated a bar and grill. I played ,worked and even did my homework in the bar. My parents divorced and became alcoholics, I believe that being around drunks when you are sober is very difficult and stressfull. In my early 20's I developed a problem with alcohol and marijuana as well. At age 41 I was able to stop,and allthough it is going to upset some people it was through Jesus Christ ! 9 years 2 months 21 days ! Clean!

i used to drink ..... genetic ? hmmmmm.. i think its due to the fact it eased what i had in my head, now i know how to manage the issues in my head i drink social, did i beat the gene? did it vanish or were my eyes just bigger than my belly ? we all have the gene that develops faster if something we do deflects the pain we have, chocolate, shopping, games,drink, eating etc.uh oh i can hear people now "dry drunk alert" or am i just able to cope with issues in a normal manner, i go with the latter

fact:  sons of alcoholic men are already alcoholics. they dont have that enzyme. also native americans are born without it. im not sure how it works with females. i am an alcoholic, but , my sister is not. but, we also have different fathers. my father was an alcoholic and my mother is..
