I've been playing the bass for about 5 months now, and this is my first cover on youtube. Loaded with mistakes (especially towards the end). Please no bashing/trash talk, I do realize that this video ain't exactly top notch when you compare it with other covers. Constructive Criticism are welcome though :). Thanks

It's amazing how much MUSE can do with only 3 men. Awesome.

  • sorry for my ignorance, im a guitar player....i notice everyone strums the bass different to guitars. how does it work, because by the looks of it, your fingertapping or playing it really lightly as opposed to strumming or "picking" at a guitar.....thanks :)

  • @abhiginimav yeap. i'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but basically I am plucking the bass strings with my index and middle finger one after the other. And you don't really dig into the strings that much; it's more like grazing the top of the strings. here's a link to another video, which hopefully will explain this better than I did: youtube.com/watch?v=koZpFObCSis&feature=relmfu

  • not possible to play this song after only playing bass guitar for 5 months unless you have experience playing guitar. I played bass for a year, stopped for a year, then learned this song and I can't even play it up to speed.

  • @apolllos7 yeap2. like i mentioned earlier, i played guitar before i picked up the bass. i think the hardest part was the getting my fingers to alternate smoothly when plucking the string

  • thanks a lot guys for your comments. Greatly appreciated :). I think I should mention that I played a bit of guitar before picking up the bass (but never really got into it as much as I'm into the bass now). and when I first noticed the bass lines to this song, I practiced it everyday for a couple of hours or so. So yeah, lotsa practice does indeed help. :) Thanks again.

  • don't take this as hating on your video, which is really good by the way, but i think that your bass needs to be a tiny bit louder than the backing track. dont worry though, i'm having similar problems with my test recordings. once again great cover and dont take my criticism as a put down, just a tip. tnx

  • @apolllos7 It is also a matter that reguards your hands, your capability and your predisposition maybe.. I've played bass for 7 months now, by myself, and even if i'm very very lame reguarding technique, hand position and this stuff i can play the initial riff of this song at the right speed for 3 times at least

  • your using the same bass i have

  • i have played bass for 2 months and i know this bassline flawless, i'm so proud of myself, i want a cookie now.

  • @apolllos7 Learned it after 3 months.

  • @apolllos7 I learned how to play this song on bass with about 6 months of bass experience and i hadn't had experience on other instruments before that.

  • @FF35Pilot ikr

  • I think if you think what muse does with only 3 men is amazing then you need to check out Rush. Just epicness...

  • mn be carefull!! don´t let your fingers fly out! thats not the right way to put them, also thats not nice looking ;)
