Ever since I became musically aware, I have wanted to write a rock version of "We Three Kings". At the time, I was thirteen, listening to grunge and had little to no musical intuition. However, even when I started writing songs, I didn't have the equipment necessary for such an undertaking.

I also have a self-imposed limitation on Christmas music: I can only listen to it after Thanksgiving and before the 25th. This naturally gives me a narrow window for composing.

But in December of 2007 it all came together. After spinning around in my head for over a decade, I wrote "A Christmas Cradle", a medley of my favorite Christmas songs, bound together by an original melody, whose name is also the title of the work.

There are nine songs in this medley, with one "secret" song (for those of you adept enough to pick apart layers) and my original melody.

I hope you enjoy this creation, even if you're not a fan of the genre, because I had a blast putting it together. If I forgot your favorite song, please leave it as a comment!

Enjoy, and happy holidays.

Notable influences: It's impossible to not mention the influence Trans Siberian Orchestra had on this piece. However, I tried to write my song with TSO's flaws in mind (lack of orchestra, repetitive formula, overuse of power chords, etc.)
