Youth Choice - Global Youth Service Day 2010

Youth Choice along with Banner School participated in Global Youth Service Day (GYSD). GYSD is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes millions of children and youth who improve their communities through volunteering, community service, and service learning.

The YC Litter Clean-up Project gave youth the opportunity to assist in beautifying their community by picking up trash and recyclables from the streets and sidewalks. Youth discovered that litter is a result of individual behavior and that they have important roles in preventing litter and improving the appearance of their community.

Youth Choice is a youth development organization whose mission is to educate, engage, and empower youth to make healthy choices. Basing our work on the unifying framework that involves the entire community in activities that focus on the healthy development of youth, Youth Choice believes that reaching youth through a variety of means will empower them to develop and maintain healthy choices as well as promote their talents, ideas, leadership, and health.
