Comparison testing took place between 13th of June and 21st of August 2000 which was primarily aimed to test the mobility capabilities of the tanks and their usage susceptibility in the specific terrain and climate conditions of Malaysia. The track course was amid jungle, mountainous terrain where the vehicles must conquer long inclinations of 25° and more, mud, swamp, water obstacles, sandy coast and rice fields. T-90S demonstrated its high traction it was left on an inclination of 30°, where it stood motionless for an hour, started up and scaled the incline no other vehicle was able to repeat this. The vehicle ran for 3000 km total.

  • @pelicaravansary

I couldn't find any better. Even this was very hard to find. Beggars can't be choosers.

  • @delvinic21213

LOL, as much as russian 125 APFSDS rounds can't penetrate turret armor, the same goes for 120mm APFSDS rounds used by NATO tanks. Not even M829A3 can't penetrate T-90A's turret armor. Why do you think USA went from M829A2 to M829A3 and are developing A4 as we speak?

  • @willychong8921 Well, yea, I agree to certain extent your opinion is correct. But PT 91 is a much better weapon than Leopard which is a 1970's generation of tanks. We had tested it on our terrain. But I also agree with we should buy other tanks but I think one batallion of MBTs is quite sufficient for now. We have other armaments which we don't reveal. Unlike our boisterous neighbour. Take care :)

  • Ops wrong tank, apparently the Leapord 2 is Singapore's choice :P

  • @Kris81887 I know that Singapore made a big fuss about how inferior PT 91 compared to Leopard 1 tank, PT 91 is a modern conversion of the T-72 while the Leopard 1 is a battle proven but 1970 old tank.

But the decision for buying PT 91 is a mistake, for me, they should have purchase either the T-90 or T-84, cause we don't need to actually fight, but both tank are quite capable, and above all the T-90 are more compatibility in terms of ammunition, armor & upgrades. And it looks good on parade :P

  • Not to obsesses with the tank..we live in heavily jungle country not desert...i think 48+ tank would be enough for malaysia armed force..counter balance with the Eryx, Metis-M , Bakthar Shikan and many Anti-Tank weapon in Malaysia weapon inventory enough to take any tank in the world...Lubnan War prove it...

  • this alone shuld be enough to destroy singapore..

  • Off cause american's tanks better for Malaysia - they have got air condition...LOL *trollface*

  • Everyone knows Russian tanks are durable....buy them and you have a tank for 40 years, just dont get into a war though.

  • @TheSociety123 its win all the test.. don't just depend on internet ma.. action speaks louder

  • So PT-91 and T-90 are the modernization of T-72, after all T-90 modern than PT-91 and why our country choose PT-91 ?

  • that testing very kaw kaw ......
