I dont know anything about the Violin.I dont know a thing about Bach. This is the first I have heard of Gitlis and this piece, but I do have ears and I know what greatness is and you dont need to be an expert to know this guy is great. Its like anything. I dont need to know "Why" Van Gogh is a great painter. I have eyes and can see that he is great. Greatness needs no explanation. It is what it is.

@garrrynec The reason why non-classical music does not 'suffer from this' is because non-classical music is generally of lower stature. The dumbed down masses think classical music music is elitist because they cannot appreciate it. It is matter of pearls in front of swine. The critics of the past have been proved wrong time and time again because they had a pre-concieved way inwhich they thought things should have been presented. The classical musician connects with the composer and performer.
