The singer isn't Maddy Prior it is Gaye Woods who was in the original Steeleye Span with Maddy and Tim Hart Ashley Hutchins and Gayes brother Terry. Gaye and Terry Woods left after making just one album she later rejoined the band that is when this recording was made.

Just heard Peter Knight play and sing this song himself live in a small space with his new band Gigspanner and it was more deeply moving than this version. He's quite amazing.

Peter Knight's fiddle playing on this is just wonderful. I remember seeing them a few year back and when they played this the rest of the band, and the whole audience, just turned to watch Peter play. It was so moving.
