Soo 4424 leading CP Rail 4520 and Norfolk Southern 9138 with a full load at the Narragansett Avenue grade crossing. Forward to 0:55, a Chicago Fire Department (CFD) fire engine # 125 answering an emergency call has to stop and wait for the train to cross and the gates to go up. I hope they made it to their call in time to do the job they were called to do.

Maybe Chicago should invest in building a vehicle viaduct over the tracks like the one on Central Avenue that goes over the Milwaukee District/West Line tracks, or a vehicle underpass like the one that was recently built under the tracks at Grand Avenue before Mannheim Road.

  • the soo railroad it not running any more

  • @Flipperpat11 Oh, yes it does. It runs from ND through MN, WI, MI (Upper Peninsula only), IL, and parts of IN. It's Canadian Pacific Railway-owned and a very small railroad, but still in existence, and still rolling past my house near this spot every single day.

  • @joseg2143 thanks

  • @Flipperpat11 No worries. I got close-up to some SOO GP38-2's today and under the engine number on the sides was painted "Proud to be a part of CP Rail System."

  • who's gonna pay for them too build a bridge so the trains dont hold up fire or police ? tax payers will have too pay for it

  • @staintedcards We just had a town hall meeting about the issue. All options are being considered, but it looks like a new firehouse may be built just south of the tracks (where the fire engine heads at the end) to take calls from that area and prevent train hold-ups.

  • @joseg2143 yep, we get Soo engines here on the CSX line in Michigan

  • otimo video, felicitaçoes do Brasil!

  • Nice to see a Soo engine still in Soo paint. Yep, even fire trucks have to stop for trains. I know an EMT who said he was in a ambulance that was almost struck by a train because the driver thought the ambulance should have right-of-way. Physics, anyone?

  • I like emergency vehicles also, check out my videos, train horn vs police car siren, train horn vs ambulance siren, and fire truck siren vs train horn.
