Well, let's face it, Gene Hunt is also loyal to his friends, honest, intelligent, brave and very very funny. No wonder people like him, and ladies find him sexy. Those script writers know their jobs and the casting director is not bad either.

LOM and A2A...the best series I had never seen...and Gene Hunt....hmmm! Gene for président!

Like LOM the best but quite like A2A. The character of Gene Hunt is attractive because he is everything we don't get to see now - ie. macho, flirtatious, loyal and all sorts of things! Philip Glenister is perfect to play him!

I loved LOMs my fave prog ever but A2A is a very good show. The second series was very moving and Phil's perfomance was very powerful. GIve it another chance you might change your mind! Love the vid.

I'm sorry you don't like ATA. I"m in the middle of watching season 2 and they are gonna do a final season which they say will focus on Gene and who he is as well as resolve the show as a whole. I'll post the link to an interview with Phillip where he talks about it.

I also think that in LOM the character had a touching human depth that has lost in ATA, where he is more of a "caricature"...
(I hope the word is correct, I'm not a native English speaker, so I don't know if you use this term to express the same concept that we mean in Italian...)

Yeah, I would use the term caricature, too. Gene seemed very 2-D and shallow in A2A. Perhaps the 70's was a funnier era. Better music anyway :P It should have ended with LOM.

This is good but you should have used some footage of Gene from Ashes To Ashes! The first episode alone is a smooth operator! LOL!

I kind of made this before Ashes to Ashes aired. And as much as I love the Gene Genie, ATA was just awful.
