I have been recorded one of the fastest punches in the world and I am giving you my training routine on how I achieved such punching speed.
A few things I forgot to mention:
Never twist your hand during a punch; there are muscles that will go against each other making the punch slower and less powerful as a result.
My routine doesn't contain alot, as it is very intense and should be handled correctly.
'Quality over quantity.'
The first punching drill was a warm up!
Yeah. That's all. Please rate and subscribe.
@12x12surface Just take it all slow man. Build yourself into it, if it hurts stop, then wait a couple days and then do it again.
Knees act the same way I guess as for the punching.
There are tutorials on how to strengthen your elbow muscles on youtube. As for the ligaments in your elbows it just means too take the punching drills easy, with larger recovery times.

@PsychoFlounder
Thanks, BTW, 1:48 - what other exercises do you do to condition your elbows?
I also found out that as my strength increases, I have a greater possibility of injuring myself. Any tips for knees as well and just joints in general?

@12x12surface Weight training is always going to slow you down no matter what, but try to lift weights in a certain way so that your arms only get a certain size and stay that way. I had to drop the weights for a year to get this sort of speed, if I lifted I would be as fast as Bruce Lee, maybe slower. But I mean they are not independent of eachother. Speed=momentum=power. Combine them with strength, anaerobic capacity and whole body movement, you get one lethal weapon.

@girtrute
yes, I do find weight training slows me down, but any idea how to get that combination of speed and power? Is it a see-saw compromise relationship where one attribute is sacrificed for another, or can they both be trained independent of each other?

@chrisgrinhard Actually yes I do, and in every punch. But only if I'm trying to punch something, or someone.

@PsychoFlounder ever tried throwing the entire body forward,into the punch as you tense the arm right at impact?
just asking, 1 martial artist to another.
anyway, keep training.
GOOD SPEED.
I thumbs up video.

@chrisgrinhard Flicking the wrist is loss of power.
I dont keep my hands open but relaxed till impact, it's all that matters.

you're def fast for sure.
TIP:
1)just the act of contracting the hand to make a fist slows the punch down.
keep your hand open until impact.
many people get this wrong.They think that it's tensing of the arm only that slows punches...NOT TRUE.
YOU MUST KEEP HAND OPEN(not making fist.period).
making fist forces biceps to contest triceps during punch= SPEED REDUCTION.
also,not just enough to flick forearm outward,try flicking wrist in whip-like motion.
GOOD LUCK.

@girtrute Ok then, come out with a video and I will time your punches to see who is faster.

@PsychoFlounder I'd say your around 135 weight boxers speed. which is fast but theres plenty people with much faster strikes on here. and bruce lee was hardly the fastest alive he had the fastest publicised speed.
