  • Would you recommend the ECM-DS70P for shooting a concert?

  • I haven't used the DS70P to record a concert, but from what I've found (and heard on other youtube videos), it should do quite well. I have used the ECM-MS907 to record a high decibel concert (from about the 10th row) and with the appropriate input level adjustment, the results were quite good. The DS70P has very similar stats to the MS907 (from Sony) and they sounded pretty similar in my studio comparisons, so I would expect similarly good results (though not with the Zi8).

  • Excellent review & comparison. I was intrigued because I own the Sony ECM-957 and always believed that it was typically suited for recording vocals or orchestral work, and your demonstration clearly shows that it exhibits the best dynamic range, although a little lacking on the bass side, so not suitable for recording a rock concert, but superb say for recording a piano recital or someone singing. Just last month I used it to record my niece singing and was amazed at how good it really is.

  • Thanks for your review. Really helped me.

  • "I know what I want my input level to be, I don't want you to change it for me, thank you very much!" - lmao

thanks, good job, I agree about the DS70P

  • I actually like the 907 better than the 957. 957 sounds a little too jarring. Anyway thanks for posting the video!

  • @rswindell Thanks!
