MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan on the Nokia N9 is a neat little platform which really promises but in the general context dominated by Android, iOS and Windows Phone, it would really need a lot of attention from manufacturers and developers to get into the game.

In this video we take a look at the software on the Nokia N9, a phone which runs MeeGo after the Espoo-based company has abandoned the platform.

  • Thanks! The most comprehensive review I've seen of the N9. I just disagree with your closing remarks about 'Windows Phone and Android being better'. Even though the N9 has a single core CPU and a SGX530 PowerVR GPU from 2007, it's still smoother than my dual-core Galaxy S2. After playing around with the Qt 4.8 development environment, I can see why. It's "pedal to the metal" (C++ vs. Java). It's just such a shame MeeGo didn't take off, it rocks!. • Wow, a big thanks for going to all of the trouble of making this video. You really show off so many of the features, pros and cons of this phone.

  • This is a very Good review, I feel like i owned the device, I must agree, Nokia are very good at GPS and Maps, I got a GPS lock in like 20-ISH seconds(Including Maps start up time) while walking (A-GPS) I really don't understand why Steven Elop decided to cancel it, I heard he used to work for Microsoft, Conspiracy? Who knows?

  • Hmm...according to Maps, we lived in the same flat for 3 years.
