i really respect the fact that they weren't so stubborn like all of these "trekkers" who are up in arms about this being made. mostly all of them will see it though, and then stop flooding the forums all of the internet, untill people forget about them and then go back on them, act like huge fans and pretend they never hated on it.

I think most will come out surprised at how good it is. I went in with little expectations and found it one of the best trek films in a long time. Sometimes it is good to have a fresh look at thing.

Considering the circumstaces of Kirk's birth and therefore his whole life were changed (because of Nero/re:alternate timeline), it's amazing the Kobayashi Maru THIRD attempt was just as described in Wrath of Khan.

No, your not a Trekkie now. You just bought into this bastardization of Trek which is just a Star Wars film with Trek characters in it.

Trekkies are people who have watched as much Star Trek as possible & are not afraid to admit it. And sometimes have seen the same episodes more than twice. And they believe in the Gene R's vision on the future. Not this tripe. Having Kirk as a womanizing barfly cheater, Spock falling in love so easily, lame villain, & a contrived plot.

abrams made a very brave choice in setting it apart from the other timeline credit where it's due as a fan for 43 years i loved this

I have to say, I (and my older brother and great aunt who was growing up watching the show) are MAJOR trekkies and when we saw the commercial were like; "We refuse to see this movie."

But then a friend bought us tickets and we didn't want to be rude and decline. We went and watched it... and afterwards, let's just say we won't be so wary about the sequel! :)

@celticarchie i agree lost is boring but star trek was amazing, cloverfield will always be one of my favourite films and you must have problems if you cant see how good he is at what he does.

there is a reason why most things he has done is popular
