I see the bus and I realise that the lights won't be red for much longer, so I slow a little and get ready to press on again. But I'm watching this cyclist with heart in mouth almost as I see them attempt to undertake the bus! Then I watch appalled as they mount the pavement and cycle through the pedestrians who are still crossing the road, only to rejoin almost level with me. Absolutely nothing gained but furthering the bad name that cyclists have. Not content with this, almost unnoticed by the camera, he RLJ's at Vallance Road, the site of a cyclist's death late last year.

  • @kmcyc really like your videos man but in this situation biker is bang out of order however red lights! I do go through amber or red lights at a much slower pace only if it is quiet/no traiffic. it's been proven cyclists have a higher risk of being hit waiting at the lights due to impatient cars/motorbikes. the types of riders that just shoot through red lights/crossings & 1 way streets is incredible with no regard for anyone.

  • if cyclists were given a light system, more crossings 4 peds & made it illegal 2 j walk I wouldn't go through red lights! nothing worse than an idiot walking out into the road/through traffic like a bus without looking. u r more likely some1 walks out infront of u causes a serious accident then being killed by a cyclist. Be: in tune with ur Surroundings,Seen Heard & Ride Safely, Anticipate ppls actions,Avoid Risks while coexisting with other road users & enjoying the awesome ride! Simples ;)

Yes, you definitely have to be aware of people stepping out from between stopped traffic, larger vehicles are especially problematic as you cannot see through buses or lorries, etc. I'm always cautious when approaching these situations particularly at pedestrian crossings, where even if the light is green for me, a pedestrian may take a chance to cross not thinking that bikes will still be moving when everything else is stuck.

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you like the videos. This rider took a silly chance undertaking the bus, then mounting the pavement and riding through those people crossing the road, they have a right to safe passage just as we do on our bikes. I appreciate what you say re impatient motorists waiting behind at red lights but IME this is rare, either that or I'm comfortably fast enough from a standing start! ;)

  • The biggest losers from clever clogs who ride thru red lights are other cyclists as this breeds an anti bike culture among drivers, particularly vans and taxis. They think we're vermin and I'd rather drink bleach than ride around London nowadays!

  • @barnbersonol

Have to agree with your comment as far as poor cycling seems to justify poor driving around ALL cyclists but TBH cycling in London is perfectly fine IMO. Provided of course you pay attention and of course obey the traffic signals!

Cyclists are folks who've discovered a way of getting from A to B that beats the traffic and gets some exercise at the same time. Most also own and drive cars, just simply prefer to travel by bike.

TBH, I find cars to be pretty slow on my 15 mile cycle to work. I drove it once, it took over 90 minutes. I cycle it in under 1 hour. Sure cars may be able to achieve higher top speeds on open roads but in cities bikes are definitely faster. Too fast to ride on the footpath, which rightly so is illegal. Pedestrians average 3-4 mph, cyclists average 15-20 mph. The trip computer in my car states an average of 26 mph, which includes motorway and out of town driving.
