Some tips on Boston back braces for scoliosis- hope this helps!

Any questions, feel free to inbox me or comment

August 24th: Hey, I found the site, but it's no longer running. Sorry :/

Clothing tips:
jeans- (try a size up to get it to fit around the brace)
corduroy pants, skirts (a little longer length is good b/c it has to sit higher around brace). And yoga pants are very comfy!

If you're having trouble sleeping: when I had the brace I bought a mattress pad (about 2 inches thick) that I put under my sheets, on top of my normal mattress. It was pretty foamy, and conformed easily to the brace. It made sleeping a lot softer.

  • They told me that it doesn't come with a seamless undershirt and told me to order one from sugar lips. I would much rather them get one from them but they said it is not included with the brace and I should just use a mens undershirt. I just want to order one before it comes in. Did you use a regular undershirt like the one in the video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • @ljgwjr1 Ah that's really tough! :( The hospital I went to had seamless undershirts that we bought from them. The one I'm wearing in the vid has seams-- so I guess sugar lips is your best bet then.

  • Do you have any suggestions on what type of shirt to wear underneath the brace. My daughter will be getting her brace in 2 weeks and we have been looking for a seamless body sock. Do you have any recommendations? Do you know anything about sugar lips body socks? What did you wear under the shirt?

  • @ljgwjr1 I haven't heard of sugar-lips body socks. When I got my brace they gave me a cotton seamless undershirt that's specifically designed for boston braces. I'd ask her orthopedist/doctor about it, because I can't imagine they'd expect you to find one on your own. I wish you both luck!

  • @44PuppyDog oh my gosh, that's intense. I hope she's okay!

  • @44PuppyDog Your orthopedist or physical therapist will tell you which exercises to do. Definitely, DEFINITELY do them! I'm having some issues right now because I didn't do mine regularly.

  • @44PuppyDog oh (i think my last question) what are the excersizes? i don't want to have a weak back (i only have to wear it for 16 hours

  • @AwakeWithTheDawn I know a girl and she has 90. She had surgery and then a brace and people signed it (she was born with really weak muscles though so she is in a wheelchair) thanks for your help with all my questions!!!!!! if I have any more I know who to come to :D

  • @44PuppyDog yup you can sleep with it. Read the description box for some tips about it. Once you've been wearing the brace for a while your body molds to it, and everything (including sleeping) is just a lot easier.

  • @AwakeWithTheDawn all right here comes a new load of questions. Can u sleep in it? (im nervous so thats yu i have all these questions)
