For latest on swine flu see:
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/
(currently in 44 states, 9th May 2009).

Well it looks like the immediate threat of a pandemic has diminished, however there is still a potentially pandemic virus out in the environment. What happens over the next year is largely a role of the dice.

However there are still actionable items that can minimize this risk to mankind. Some of these are highlighted in this video.
Such as:
1)Knowledge of how viruses spread, and how to minimize their transmission.
2)Preparation for pandemic isolation and control (support for institutions such as the CDC and NHS).
3)Countering disinformation such as arguments like well the average seasonal flu kills more than the swine flu has so far, so its nothing to worry about or its all an illuminati conspiracy to control you through fear, or well there was a scare a few years ago, and nothing happened, so its safe to do nothing..

  • oh did we died yet

  • I agree that people aren't realising viuses but A. H5N1 was genetically altered humanly. B. if governments and mass media don't release the viruses they certainly but the fear of god into the threat! And C their vaccinations are crap!

  • 482 are opposed to free health care.

  • i agree 100% on your points about everyone having healthcare, the importance of being prepared and the value of hygene. we should apply those 3 things always.

but i still think the flu thing is mostly media hype. i dont think it's really a conspiracy, just a lot of opportunists hoping to capitalize on ratings. in usa those vaccine-making companies make TONS of cash from a scared, uneducated population that blindly follows leaders.

  • It was a media hype. So was SARS. So was the Bird Flu. Sure, a lot of healthy people could get sick but the casualty rate (for those who actually had the virus) was much too low to be of any more relevance than a regular flu. It saddens me that someone like you is so unsceptical about this kind of propaganda.

  • @MgoUltra No one [important] cares. Pay attention to the facts, not his appearance.

  • Thanks Thunderf00t, this actually helped me in explaining the danger to some friends!

  • Wow your one ugly peice of shit

  • its so funny that the goverment is fucking with us this way. Same thing in Norway, me and 2 others people were the ONLY ones in our ENTIRE class who didnt take the Swine flue shot. I mean if you are so afraid that Swine Flue is going to kill you, you should know that the chance of dying while biking to school is higher, LOL.

  • and then theres the chuck demic where chuck norris feals hate towards a group of people and then they contract aids, cancer and swine flu and then later die along with anyone they talk to. so far the only recorded death of this is god, justin beibers balls and the dinosaurs
