from the study of this crisis i can safely conclude that humanity won, coz there was no bloodshed. But this case could have been entirely different if some officers in a soviet nuclear sub marine had not disagreed.

@xraidedlok Yes. The entire cuban missile exercise was indirectly due to man sized ego's coupled with strategic forces aided by profit motive and orchestrated via minds of children.

The Jupiter missiles in Turkey and Italy were outdated.
The reason USSR put missiles in Cuba was because of US advantage in long range ICBMs.
The US Atlas missile was 3 times smaller than the Soviet R-7 but it had twice the range.
Also the USA had an overwhelming advantage in strategic bombers. So the Soviets thought because of those and and of the U.S. missiles in Turkey, they had a chance to put missiles into Cuba to target U.S. cities like New York, Washington DC, Boson, etc and so on.
