Hatch closed - Mars500 mission has begun

Mars500, the first full-length simulated mission to Mars, began today 3 June in Moscow. At 11:49 CEST the six-man crew, including Europeans Diego Urbino and Romain Charles, entered their 'spacecraft' and the hatch was closed for the next 520 days.

in what year people will go to mars? Nasa will bei n 2024 and ESA?

@Kozaack no it isn't its to test the psychological effects of long period missions, it takes almost 3 years to get to mars and that is a long time plus if they land they'll find a barren planet with really nothing that kind of thing will have a huge impact on you.

I doubt if this test is necessary. It's just waste of time in my eyes.
