In the summer of 2008 we finally realised why our pet rabbit (Missey) was always attacking Moira's feet or chasing her around the lawn. Missey was in heat. The final straw was when one day, Missey chased Moira in to the house nipping at her slippers. We had a friend of a friend who had a buck of a similar breed. So we decided to let them get together. After her return, Missey literally left Moira alone after that. It was maybe a month later that Missey gave birth to four babies. I built a special enclosure on the lawn for the hutch such that Missey could hop in and out while her bunnies stayed secure inside the enclosure. It was not long before the little devils discovered how to climb out of the enclosure (who knew rabbits could climb up chicken wire). By the time they got to that size though they were to large to squeeze through small gaps in the fence round our garden. So we folded away the enclosure and bought another hutch for all the bunnies. That is when our back garden turned into a petting zoo for our family. It was fun. After they had been with us six weeks it was time to look for homes. We quickly got one of the bunnies a new owner. The remaining three were a real problem. However our local pet store runs a re-homing service to raise funds for a local pet charity. So we took two of them there and I am told they went to two good homes with young children. The last one (called Mischif) we decided to keep as company for Missey. They look so content in the last couple of pictures :-)
