This is the straightforward recap on the install of a set of Spiegler LSL Superbike Handlebars on a 2007 Honda VFR.

Watch the video through. I recap the install, give directions, recommendations and a description as to why Spieglers Install Directions are misleading or not necessarily correct. In fact if you purchase this kit, you'll notice (especially if you can read French) that the English and French Instructions are completely different - and in some ways compliment eachother. Why the English Instructions are so poor - ???. They also are titled "Prototype Installation"...if that doesn't give you a hint. So I would think of Spiegler as just a Supplier of the Kit.

I did like this kit as an option for an upgrade over the Helibars Upgrade. I thinkit looks much better, and an added bonus - the more outward spacing of the grips lets you breathe more openly. I felt with the stock bars that my chest and shoulders were always tight. It may be my build, however my shoulders are much more relaxed and I can breathe fuller breaths. I think this has to do with how the stock bars draw your elbows into your sides- try simulating the riding position sitting right now and draw your elbows into your ribs - then transition your hands outward - like on the outer side of where your hand were - then breathe. That is the difference. The other upside is I experienced absolutely no hand or wrist pain or cramping. Now I did notice one thing I may have done wrong - and that was the angle of rotation when I installed the bar. - I rotated the bar more downward to get the grips back further - this I beleive led to the hand soreness I mentioned in the video. Make sure you hold the bar in your hands before you install it to see where it travels through your hand the most comfortable - should be a natural position. The downside is I noticed my triceps felt like they were being worked a lot more. It wasn't too bad - just that I felt them now, whereas I didn't before.

I hope this and the other Subsequent Videos I title as Part 2, Part 3, ... are extremely helpful.

  • Great detail mate. Much appreciated as I just fitted the kit to my fathers VFR. Without your detail the kit would take much longer to fit.

  • well im quite sure that yours isnt a VFR then, becuase on all models they have VFR. as the abs models would ahve the abs lettering on the front wheel faring

  • I just bought this bike froma dealer but it does not have the letters VFR on the side in silver like yours, The VFR on the side is because is the ABS version?

    Thanks
