027 - DNA and RNA - Part 2

Paul Andersen continues his description of DNA and RNA. He begins with the structure of DNA and RNA and moves into the process of DNA Replication. He also describes the central dogma of biology explaining how DNA is transcribed to mRNA and is finally translated into proteins. He also introduces genetic engineering and explains how transformation is used to create insulin.

  • Hi I am a biology teacher and my class in australia really enjoys your presentations. They use them for consolidation and revision. How much time does it takr to prepare these podcasts? thank you for your generosity in sharing your expertise

  • @russ06258 Thanks for the great feedback. It takes me about 10 minutes to record a video and 20 minutes to do the final editing. However most of the time (just like teaching) is figuring out what I want to say and organizing this into a Keynote presentation.

  • If I was gay, you'd be my boufriend. -3

  • Why these videos are so effective is that this has a visual guide. It's efficient to learn when you know what you're talking about looks like. Visual learners greatly appreciate this, like me.

  • Thank you I finally understand this!

  • I was wondering, what is your job, how did you learn so much about Biology?

  • Mr. Anderson I can't express enough my deepest gratitude for your videos. I have returned to college after being out for 18 years. I am going into Nursing. Needless to say I had forgotten most of my science classes. I made a high B (2 points actually from an A) in Microbiology on my return. I would have drowned in that course if not for you. Thank you for going the extra mile! You Rock! \m/

  • Hi, I'm an Italian student and I'm revising my knowledge by watching your videos. The best thing is you use very understandable pictures and that helps a lot, especially since I have a good photographic memory. You're awesome, thank you for what you're doing!

  • OMG. I love u. U saved my ass

  • @bozemanbiology : ya,that was very good indeed

but i request you to deal some topics in detail coz it will be a great help

especially translation and transcription process , differences ..etc coz its very confusing in the books and with ur type of video demonstration it seems a piece of cake .. and so becomes easy to learn i hope u will upload it at the earnest.

  • This is entertaining.

  • Thank you so much for these videos. Extremely informative. They really help me with my studies and I literally just found them now!!!
