This is a short interview I did with Nelson in the city of Toronto in Canada. The interview centers around his own experience and a few tips on his method of propagation. For more information on fig trees please visit my website http://www.figtrees.ca

  • hey i really want a fig tree can you mail me a start?

  • @hooodrichtg sorry I cannot mail you a starter because of export restrictions. if you want to get a fig tree you could visit some gardening forums or find an online nursery such as figs4fu or treesofjoy in the U.S.A.

  • Hi, can we become partners. I have lots of property with water, but no trees. And great soil.

  • @xavierz71 Hi, according to your profile you live in Mexico and this would complicate things if we were to become partners. If you are interested in starting a fig plantation you could probably import cuttings from the U.S.A. One good source to consider would be figs4fun.com Furthermore, you will probably need a Phytosanitary Certificate to import cuttings to Mexico.

  • Nice interview but I have a question, what plants does he have in the two red pots at 4:34 ?

  • @RromaBoi

As mk2vr666 answered they are pomagranate's and they can also be propagated from cuttings.

you can really use any soil, good draining soil I have been using composted lamb manure lately mixed with a little perlite and pine bark chips. Before that I used Pro-Mix BX and added a little extra perlite and dolomitic lime and they grew just as well. So you can really play around with mixtures until you get it right for your own climate.

I also have a couple seedlings. I grew them from store bought Kadota figs from California. The only problem with seedlings is they generally take along time to fruit and you have a much higher percentage of getting Capri Figs than actual edible figs. I have kept them just for fun but am not counting on them being anything spectacular but you never know.

  • What kind of soil do you recommend for planting fig trees???

  • Great Video,

thanks so much for the clear informative accurate information.

I myself also grow and I do sell Unusual Fig Trees in the UK.I own a 25 acre Fig Farm in Portugal with 2,000 Fig Trees.

Do email me with your requests, I can ship to the States. The trees are under 2kgs.in weight for shipping.,usually about 2 years old and well formed. Now the Fig Trees are without leaves. So now is the time to buy and plant.......

  • Hi, I germinated some figs from seeds. Now I have about 5-6 seedlings coming up. Any advise?

  • @mtlfigs, YES IN CABO ABOUT A 2 KILOMETERS FROM THE BEACH. BUT THOSE CUTTINGS SHOULD BE IN THE GROUND INSTEAD OF POTS, THE FRUIT IS AWESOME.
