Making biscotti is no big deal with my quick and easy approach. You can customize the recipe to suit your taste, and you can customize your approach depending on what equipment you have on hand. Best of all, it's a low-fat, inexpensive treat. And, if you, like me, are also a woodworker, you can put your homemade cookies into a homemade bowl for the ultimate gift. For information about my book on making bowls on the scroll saw, please check out my blog: www.scrollsawbowls.blogspot.com.

  • If you think of biscotti as low-fat cookies, you can put whatever you want into them. We have a wheat bran, chocolate chip, raisin version that is baked the same way. Any dough that you can shape into a log is a good candidate. I love the fact that my basic recipe uses no added butter or oil, just eggs, which at least give nutrition for the calories.

  • Just regular, all-purpose flour.

  • Enjoy! They're really fun to make.
