This video was shot from Kansas Highway 23 from 1 mile east of Grainfield, Kansas to several miles north of Grainfield.

    how long did it take for the tornado to touchdown? and did u see any distruction?

  • The tornado had already touched down when the video clip begins. A dust/debris whirl confirmed touchdown. The condensation funnel cloud does not have to touch the ground. The tornado is the wind, not the cloud.

  • I chased this day as well. I missed this tornado, however. Got on the storm near Collyer and saw the massive wall of dust near the updraft. Heard radio reports of a large tornado but didnt see it. Was a good chase though because of the hp structure.
